Metric Transparency & Calculation Rules

How we count

Every number on Kolabyuks has a clear origin: read from official TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram permissions without scraping, calculated with the same rules for Brands and Creators, and loaded directly from system configuration.

All time limits, tracking windows, and sample calculation parameters on this page are read directly from active system configuration (app_config).

1. Data Sources

Straight from official platform permissions, with no scraping and no passwords

Kolabyuks reads video metrics (views, likes, comments, and shares) exclusively through the official YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram APIs with the creator’s OAuth permission. We never ask for creator passwords, never store session cookies, and never scrape public pages.

  • YouTube Data API v3 & YouTube Analytics API (read-only OAuth permission from the channel owner).
  • TikTok Display API / Login Kit (basic profile and public video statistics permission).
  • Instagram API with Instagram Login for Professional accounts (media & account insights).
2. Update Frequency & Platform Delays

How often numbers refresh and Instagram delay notes

Every video that passes the brief check is polled periodically by our background worker during the active campaign period and tracking window. Every metric shown to Brands always includes a "Last updated" (WIB) timestamp.

Video age < 48 hoursUpdated every 15 minutes
Video age 2–7 daysUpdated every 1 hour
Video age 7–14 daysUpdated every 6 hours until the tracking window ends
When tracking window / campaign endsOne final snapshot is captured, then polling stops
Note on Instagram data delays of up to 48 hours

Per official Instagram Graph/Professional API documentation, view and interaction insights from Instagram may experience platform-side delays of up to 48 hours before appearing in the latest snapshot.

3. Why Numbers May Differ from Platform Apps

Three view counts: on the platform, captured, and counted

When you open the TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram app directly, the view count may differ from what you see in the Kolabyuks dashboard. To keep things crystal clear, we distinguish three numbers:

1. Views on the platformLive in-app example: 135,000 views

The real-time number shown inside the TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram app at the exact moment you open it.

2. Captured viewsLatest system snapshot: 120,000 views

The latest official number fetched by Kolabyuks on its polling schedule, paired with the "Last updated" timestamp.

3. Counted (billable) viewsEligible & capped: 120,000 views

The portion of captured views from videos that passed the brief check, met the minimum view threshold, stayed within the per-video cap, and occurred within the campaign period and remaining budget.

Why these three numbers can differ:
  • Scheduled polling intervals (15 minutes to 6 hours) between when you check the app and when the last snapshot was captured.
  • Official Instagram API metric delays, which can take up to 48 hours on the platform side.
  • Per-video view cap (maxViewsPerVideo): views above the cap still appear in captured views, but are not billed.
  • Minimum view threshold (minViews): videos below the threshold have their captured views recorded, while counted views remain 0 until the threshold is reached.
  • Tracking window (14 days from posting) or campaign end date / budget completion.
4. Counted View Rules & Calculation Examples

By-Views and Per-Video formulas with concrete numbers

By Views model: for each video that passes the brief check, counted views = min(captured views, per-video cap) when captured views ≥ minimum views (otherwise 0), within the 14-day tracking window from posting, the campaign end date, and remaining budget.

Per Video model: each video that passes the brief check and stays publicly live for at least 7 days earns a fixed rate per video (views are still tracked for Brand reporting).

Sample simulation parameters (from system config): Brand gross CPM IDR 1,500 per 1,000 views · Creator net CPM IDR 1,200 per 1,000 views · Minimum 5,000 views · Per-video cap 500,000 views.

Below minimum threshold (< 5,000 views)
Captured Views:3,200
Counted Views:0
Brand Charge (Gross):IDR 0
Creator Earnings (Net):IDR 0
Meets minimum & within per-video cap
Captured Views:120,000
Counted Views:120,000
Brand Charge (Gross):IDR 180,000
Creator Earnings (Net):IDR 144,000
Exceeds per-video cap (capped at 500,000)
Captured Views:750,000
Counted Views:500,000
Brand Charge (Gross):IDR 750,000
Creator Earnings (Net):IDR 600,000
5. Proportional Service Fee & Unused BudgetFee percentage is marked as an example until official rates are finalized

Service fee split (example) and full unused budget return

Kolabyuks’ service fee is strictly proportional: it applies only to the portion of the budget actually used by videos that pass the check. The split is computed once from the gross amount billed to the Brand:

fee = floor(gross × feeRateBps ÷ 10,000) · creator amount = gross − fee

By flooring the fee to the nearest Rupiah, creator amount + fee always equals the exact gross Brand charge down to the last Rp1, with no extra fee deducted from the Creator side.

Example in a Per Video campaign with Brand rate IDR 250,000 and example fee 20%: service fee is IDR 50,000, and the Creator receives IDR 200,000.

When budget usage reaches 90% (intakeStopRatio), new video submissions close automatically so the remaining budget covers ongoing views from already-approved videos. Any unused budget when a campaign ends is returned 100% in full to the Brand’s organization balance.

6. Brief Checks, Brand Flags, & Appeals

Two-stage managed checks that stay fair to Brands and Creators

  • Stage 1 (Deterministic check on submit): the system verifies OAuth account ownership, public post status, matching platform, duration range, required hashtags, duplicate prevention, and the active quota of up to 5 videos per creator per campaign.
  • Stage 2 (Managed brief check): the Kolabyuks system/team checks the video against the brief within a target SLA of 24 hours. Videos that need fixes receive a clear reason with video timestamps and do not consume the creator’s active quota.
  • Brand Safety Flag: Brands may flag a passed video within 48 hours of approval if it violates the brief, triggering a review by the Kolabyuks team before earnings become final.
  • Right to Appeal: Creators may either fix and submit a new post, or file 1 appeal within 72 hours of a decision for review by the Kolabyuks team within 3 business days.
7. Engagement Rate (ER) Definition

How Engagement Rate is calculated

Engagement Rate (ER) = ((Likes + Comments + Shares) ÷ Captured Views) × 100%

Calculation example: a video with 8,400 likes, 950 comments, and 1,450 shares (10,800 total interactions) out of 120,000 captured views yields an Engagement Rate of 9%.

8. Data Source & Audience Demographic Labels

Honest metric and demographic labels per platform

Each platform provides different data scopes through its official API. Kolabyuks labels each metric accurately and never fabricates demographic estimates:

  • Views, Likes, Comments, Shares: labeled "Verified from platform" with a "Last updated" timestamp (except in Simulation Mode).
  • YouTube Demographics: labeled "Viewers of this video" because YouTube Analytics provides per-video viewer breakdowns (age, gender, country).
  • Instagram Demographics: labeled "Creator account audience (followers)" because the Instagram API returns follower demographics of the creator’s account rather than per-video viewers.
  • TikTok Demographics: not displayed because the TikTok Display API does not provide viewer demographic breakdowns.
9. Budget Projection & Pace

How projections are calculated and why they appear as a range

Projections appear once a campaign has at least 3 days of data. The system computes daily pace using a weighted moving average over the last 7 days, applying a 2× weight to the most recent 3 days so the pace responds quickly to recent momentum.

Why is it shown as a range (±25%) instead of a single date? Short-form video views grow organically and fluctuate day to day. Showing an estimated depletion date range (for By Views) or filled-slot range (for Per Video) with a ±25% band is far more honest and actionable for Brands than a false single-point prediction.

An informative pace warning appears if the lower projection bound estimates the budget will run out more than 7 days before a Key Date (product launch, music release, or film premiere). Projections are informational only and never trigger automatic charges.

10. Simulation Mode

Explore the full workflow with no real money

Simulation Mode (code: demo) provides a dedicated sandbox workspace for signed-in users to experience both the Brand and Creator workflows using realistic sample data. All numbers in Simulation Mode carry a simulation banner, never display the "Verified from platform" badge, and use a strictly isolated demo ledger that never transacts with real accounts or balances.
